Salary:           TSAT Grade E – £24,832 - £27,948 per annum

Location:      Medway, Kent

Hours:           Full-time - 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Start Date:    Week commencing Monday 24th June 2019


Closing Date of Position: Tuesday 30th April 2019


We are looking to appoint a Sports Centre Manager, to be based at the Thinking Fitness gym on the site of New Horizons Children’s Academy and Holcombe Grammar School, in Chatham. Occasional travel to other sites within the Medway hub may be required.


The successful post-holder will manage the operational and commercial activity of Thinking Fitness, including the Health and Fitness suite, 4-court sports hall, dance studio and 3G pitch. You will develop the activities and facilities offered by the gym, manage relationships with clubs/charities, and most importantly ensure that customer needs are met whilst ensuring that activities and plans remain consistent with the Trust’s educational objectives.


The Sports Centre Manager will report to the Business Development Manager, and will focus on operational management, staff management, business development, stakeholder management and customer engagement.

We are fortunate to have state of the art equipment, a popular exercise class timetable and most importantly a wonderful set of members, now equating to 500. We are now looking for a positive leader with entrepreneurial ability, excellent commercial awareness and a passion for high standards to put their stamp on the business and make a significant contribution in shaping the future direction of Thinking Fitness. There will be opportunities to progress within this role; in upcoming years we plan to open up two further Thinking Fitness facilities across Kent.


Your new role:

This role will require flexibility to work a mixture of core office hours as well as evenings and weekends.

What you will need to succeed:

  • A passion for sports, physical activity and healthy lifestyles
  • An ability to drive sales/income and the ability to manage expenditure
  • Experience in staff management, developing individuals and driving them forward as a team
  • Operational management experience in the sport and leisure industry
  • Knowledge of, and experience in the application of Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • To be a hard-working, determined and ambitious individual with excellent attention to detail
  • Good IT skills and the ability to work with a range of software, as well as knowledge of Microsoft Office software
